Chris Myer
INSTRUCTOR
Chris has been a career firefighter and paramedic for over a decade working in urban, suburban, and rural departments across the Commonwealth of Virginia, currently serving as a captain with Stafford County Fire and Rescue. He is an accomplished rope and tower rescue technician with additional certifications and experience as a fire officer, instructor, and swiftwater rescue technician.
Growing up in Richmond, Virginia along the banks of the James River, Chris started rock climbing at a very young age. Early on, he developed a passion for being on rope leading ultimately to his lifelong love of learning everything about rope and rescue techniques. While not working and teaching, Chris and his wife, Katie, enjoy teaching their two young girls how to climb.
Chris has a master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety. Using this formal education, coupled with his knowledge of rock climbing, Chris is always looking for ways to streamline rescue operations by thinking outside of the “box” while still operating well within safety margins.
